Snow Plowing Reports

Bikepaths are an integral part of the bicycle transportation network, and these reports are provided to encourage their use by bicyclists who might otherwise not venture out in the snow, and to encourage their proper maintenance (which includes snow plowing) by the responsible agencies.
Charles River path
The Charles River bikepath often went unplowed in 2005, but the DCR is doing better than this in 2006. (Doug Mink, 12/05/2005)

Jamaicaway Bikepath
The pedestrian path around Jamaica Pond (on the left) gets heavier use than the bikepath and is plowed first, but both were plowed the morning after the February 12, 2006 snowstorm. (Doug Mink, 2/13/2006)

Muddy River Path
The Town of Brookline usually does a better job clearing the Muddy River path, but it was bikeable the morning after the February 12,2006 blizzard. (Doug Mink, 2/13/2006)

For more information about bicycling in the winter check out MassBike's Winter Cycling Page or the ICEBIKE web site. For safer riding on ice, Nokian makes studded tires, carried locally by Peter White in Hillsborough, NH and Salem Cycle in Salem, MA, among others.

If you cannot get your local path plowed, do it yourself!
