Commuter Workshop
Our bicycle commuter workshops are great for businesses and corporations looking to promote healthy active behavior among employees, for schools looking to promote a fast and fun way for students to get to school, or for clubs looking to encourage more and better riding. The workshop is designed for people who know how to ride a bike, but would like to start using their bikes to ride to work, school, or clubs. Attendees receive safety hand outs, and the instructor will have a bicycle, helmet, and gear on hand to demonstrate principles, as well as to answer any questions attendees may have. Locations with parking issues will also greatly benefit from getting people to commute by work by bike.
MassBike bicycle commuter workshops help businesses and corporations reap the benefits of less congestion, healthier more active employees and a smaller carbon footprint.
We provide several versions of our commuter workshop:
- Summer
This fast-paced, one hour workshop covers topics ranging from bike choice, gear choice, route planning, safety, rules of the road, how to look professional when you get to work, and other general tips and tricks. - Winter
The winter version contains an abbreviated version of the summer workshop as well as additional tips for how to stay warm and dry. The winter workshop also covers how to maintain your bike, special gear for the winter, and safety tips for dealing with cold and wet weather. - Maintenance
The maintenance version covers how to fix a flat, how to adjust your seat post, how to lube your chain, and a basic overview of bike parts and what they do. Presenters bring all tools/props needed to teach this class, so attendees will not need to bring anything other than themselves to this presentation.
Workshops are designed for up to 30 people at a time to provide an effective way to quickly educate a large number of people on how to safely and comfortably commute to work by bicycle.
Each workshop is $225, plus $30 an hour travel time if you are outside of the Metro Boston area (anything we can’t ride our bicycles to). If you would like to schedule a commuter workshop at your corporation/school/club/group contact us.
