Child Education

MassBike’s Safe Routes To School (SRTS) bicycle safety training is offered to grades 4-8 at no cost to the school, and consists of a 45-60 minute high-energy interactive presentation. A trained MassBike instructor will arrive with all the materials needed for the class: a helmet, a bicycle and other props. The school or organization receiving the training doesn’t need to provide anything other than a space to teach the students, and the students themselves. Want to bring bicycle safety training to your child’s school? Then encourage your school to contact the SRTS Coordinator, Ben Hammer at Ben.Hammer@state.ma.us
Unfortunately, the funding available for the Safe Routes to School program is limited. In order to bring bike safety training to schools and communities that are unable to participate in SRTS, MassBike is offering its training at a cost of $100, plus a travel fee if no instructor is located nearby ($30/hour of travel). If you are interested in exploring this option for your school, Cub Scout/Girl Scout Troop, or other youth group (or if you think your company might be interested in underwriting the program with a tax-deductible donation), please contact Price Armstrong, price@massbike.org or 617-542-2453.
