MassBike needs your help to make bicycling in Massachusetts better for everyone! We are always looking for eager volunteers and interns to lend a hand, whether that’s out at an event or in our office. We rely on volunteer and intern support to help advance bicycling in Massachusetts. Check out below to see the ways you can help out or look at our volunteer calendar for when opportunities are available. Internships

Do you care about the environment, transportation issues, and health? Do you have an interest in design, photography, or video production? Want to learn more about advocacy, outreach, or education? MassBike, Massachusetts’ statewide bicycling advocacy organization, is seeking interns for a substantive, meaningful experience. Whether you are a college or graduate student, retiree, or professional who is taking time off work and looking to build new skills, MassBike has a role for you. Our internships are unpaid, but we are committed to ensuring that our interns take on critical projects and develop professional skills.

Full-time interns are preferred and college credit is available, but even one day a week helps MassBike. The more time you are able to commit, the better the learning experience. Internships are available in Graphic Design, Fundraising, Grantwriting, Communications, Advocacy, Diversity Outreach, and Tech/Web. Please send a resume and cover letter to bikeinfo@massbike.org.

Volunteering

Because our volunteers do so much for us, we feel that they deserve to get something in return. Anyone who volunteers ten hours of their time will automatically earn a MassBike membership! By becoming a member of MassBike you have access to local bike shop discounts, a special members price on cycling skills classes, zip car discounts, and much more.   • Volunteer Nights - This is a fun way for you to meet other cyclists and help out MassBike. Both rookie and veteran volunteers get together each second Tuesday of the month for good company, free pizza, beer (generously provided by Harpoon Brewery), and soda, and good, old-fashioned envelope stuffing. All you have to bring is yourself; we provide the food and drinks. RSVP early, spots fill up fast!
  • Outreach - Outreach means many things here at MassBike. Sometimes it means getting petitions signed on the street, other times it means tabling at an event, and still other times it means giving passing bicyclists free air for their tires and lube for their chains. Whichever way you want to help out, our outreach volunteers are right out there trying to make bicycling in Massachusetts better.
  • Office Help - We always need more help in the office! During regular business hours, volunteers can come help out in our downtown Boston office in a number of ways: basic research, data entry, envelope stuffing, or just giving the office a good cleaning. We’re always happy to see volunteers around the office to keep us energized and excited.
  • Valet Bike Parking – MassBike provides bicycle valet across Massachusetts and we love it. We get to help out bicyclists and people can see just how easy it is to bike since so many other people are doing it. But we need your help to park all those bikes!
