Dear Pioneer Valley Cyclists,
Two quick items:
1) The Massachusetts Dept. of Environmental Management (which owns and
operates, among other things, the Norwottuck Rail Trail) is holding an
open regional planning meeting
TOMORROW, WEDNESDAY 28 APRIL, from 4:00 - 7:00 PM
at
the NOTCH VISITOR CENTER, HOLYOKE RANGE STATE PARK
to discuss goals and priorities for trails and land preservation in the
Pioneer Valley area. I understand that this will be an important
opportunity for the public to provide input that will influence the
state's policies as this region becomes more and more developed, and
trails and open space become harder and harder to come by.
I received a call from Coln Nobick (sp.?) of the Appalachian Mountain Club
(617-523-0655, x385) inviting MassBike/Pioneer Valley to send a
representative. I am unable to attend tomorrow.
===> Can someone attend this meeting as a representative of MB/PV? <===
Let me know if you are able to go, so in the event that more than one
person goes I can make the necessary contacts.
2) Critical Mass this Friday, April 30. Meet at the Amherst Common at
5:15, ride at 5:30. Route may deviate somewhat from the last two rides:
some people have expressed interest in swinging through UMass on the way
to University Drive, Route 9 in Hadley, the Coolidge Bridge, and
Northampton.
