Pioneer Valley Chapter Update - August 2018

The Pioneer Valley chapter proudly hosted an August MassBike summit in Sunderland with Executive Director Galen Mook, Board Chair John Siemiatkoski, and Finance Chair Charlie Philbrook. Topics that were discussed included strategy for grassroots and regional advocacy in the digital age, planning for future chapter finances and assets, and database management and reaching underprivileged communities. Thanks are extended to The People's Pint and River's Edge Cycling for sponsoring the event.

One of the key issues that our chapter has been following has been the rollout of the ValleyBike program. So far, rollout has been rocky and public sentiment is volatile on functionality of the system. While it's a great idea, so far it has been frustrating with riders dealing with slashed tires, broken bikes, and issues with docking stations.

Coming up, the MassBike PV bike valet crew will be at Easthampton's Millpond.Live series for each Saturday concert this season. Volunteers are needed throughout the series. Come listen to free music and enjoy delicious local food. If you want to get involved as a volunteer, contact the PV Chapter!
