Framingham-Natick-Cochituate Rail Trail Ground Breaking and Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan Release

The $12.4 million project involves the construction of 2.4 miles of rail trail and includes a grade separated crossing at Route 30, as well as replacement of the CSX Bridge over Route 9. A section of the trail also includes a spur line connecting to the Natick Mall. At the northerly end, a grade separated crossing of Route 30 will be constructed to provide the connection to the Framingham section of the CRT. At its southerly end, the trail connects to Route 27 along Willow Street, just north of the MBTA station.
MassDOT will also be releasing the final Bicycle Transportation Plan and Pedestrian Transportation Plan at the event. The final plans present action steps with the goal of reducing fatalities and serious injuries and increasing the percentage of trips made by walking and bicycling. The Cochituate Rail Trail is one example of how we will achieve these goals. The Bicycle and Pedestrian Plans define a vision for Massachusetts in which all people have a safe, comfortable and convenient option to walk or bike for every day trips.
