Tuesday, May 20

Public Meeting: Springfield, I-91 Viaduct Rehabilitation 25% Design
Time: 6:30 PM
Location: Basketball Hall of Fame, 1000 Hall of Fame Avenue, Springfield, MA
Description: MassDOT will host this meeting to discuss their project rehabilitating the I-90 viaduct through downtown Springfield. The project does not contain any specific benefits when complete for people who bike or walk in Springfield, but we still encourage Springfield resident to attend and learn about the projected and any detours or delays planned during construction. Read more.

 

Public Meeting: Somerville Bicycle Committee Meeting
Time: 7:00 PM
Location: City Hall, Basement Employee Lounge, 93 Highland Avenue, Somerville, MA
Description: The Somerville Bicycle Committee meets on the third Tuesday of the month from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M., at City Hall, 93 Highland Avenue, in the basement employee lounge. Meetings are open to the public, and volunteers and help are always welcome! Read more.


Wednesday, May 21

Event: Westfield, Ride of Silence
Time: 6:30 PM
Location: South Middle School, 30 West Silver Street, Westfield, MA
Description: The Ride of Silence is a worldwide event in which bicyclists gather in their communities and ride to honor cyclists who have been killed or injured while riding on public roadways. The event is aimed to raise awareness of cyclists' presence on the road and to remind motorists to share the road. An eight-mile ride traveling at no more than 12 miles per hour will travel through the streets of Westfield. Helmets are required to participate. Read more.

 

Event: Boston, 2nd Annual Ride of Silence
Time: 7:00 PM
Location: City Hall Plaza, Boston, MA
Description: The Ride of Silence is a worldwide event in which bicyclists gather in their communities and ride to honor cyclists who have been killed or injured while riding on public roadways. The event is aimed to raise awareness of cyclists' presence on the road and to remind motorists to share the road. An eight-mile ride traveling at no more than 12 miles per hour will travel through the streets of Boston. Helmets are required to participate. Thursday, May 22

Event: Danvers, North Shore Rail Trail Workshop
Time: 8:30 AM - 10:30 AM
Location: Peabody Institute Library of Danvers, 15 Sylvan Street, Danvers, MA
Description. The Metropolitan Area Planning Council will host this interactive workshop on how to accelerate the development of trail projects in a cost efficient and successful manner. Communities in the North Shore and North Suburban regions are especially encouraged to attend. Read More.

 

Public Meeting: Cambridge, Cambridge Common/Flagstaff Park Improvements Project
Time: 6:00 PM
Location: Harvard University, Larsen Hall, 1st floor, 14 Appian Way, Cambridge, MA
Description. The City of Cambridge, MassDOT and Representative Marjorie Decker will host a public meeting on the Cambridge Common/Flagstaff Park Improvements Project. MassDOT’s contractor, Newport Construction, is expected to begin work in early June, and the project includes reconstructed pathways within the Common, new benches, trash/recycling receptacles, additional lighting, new trees and grass, playing fields and irrigation. Also included is the addition of a two-way multi-use path across the street through Flagstaff Park, along Massachusetts Avenue. Contact Kelly Dunn at [email protected] with any questions.
