Location: Newton Main Library, 330 Homer Street, Newton Centre, MA
Description: Mondays at 6pm BikeNewton leads a group Bike Ride starting and ending at the Newton Main Library at 330 Homer Street Newton Center. Arrive at 5:45. These are family-friendly "No Rider Left Behind" rides; Anyone may ride as long as their bikes are in good working order, and they are confident they can handle a leisurely 7 to 10 mile ride. Children must be with an adult, all riders must wear helmets, and adhere to safety rules of the road. Read More.

Public Meeting: Somerville, Beacon Street Reconstruction Project 75% Design
Time: 6:30 PM
Location: John F. Kennedy Elementary School, 5 Cherry Street, Somerville, MA
Description: MassDOT will host this public meeting to discuss 75% design plans for the planned reconstruction of Beacon Street. Plans call for grade-separated cycle tracks in both directions along portions of the street, standard bike lanes along other portions, and streetscape improvements throughout the corridor.

Public process for this project is nearing an end, and this may be the final public meeting. Therefore, it is more important than ever for Somerville residents to attend the meeting and speak in favor of the cycle track concept. Public Meeting: Taunton, County Street (Route 140) Reconstruction Project
Time: 6:30 PM
Location: MassDOT District 5, Training Room, 1000 County Street, Taunton, MA
Description: This is a MassDOT hosted meeting. According to MassDOT, "The proposed project consists of widening Route 140 to two 12’ foot lanes with a 4’ outside shoulder in each direction at the railroad crossing, resurfacing of the Route 140 roadway from Mozzone Boulevard to the Route 24 SB ramp signals, providing drainage improvements, improving the Route 140 alignment to eliminate the existing centerline “S” curve and improving the geometry of the existing Route 24 Southbound On-ramp deceleration lane through widening and increased taper length. It is anticipated that the proposed work will improve the Level of Service, decrease traffic congestion and provide pedestrian and bicycle access along the southwesterly side of Route 140." Public Meeting: Worcester, Blackstone River Bikeway Segment 7
Time: 7:00 PM
Location: Central Mass Regional Planning Commission, Worcester Union Station, 2 Washington Square, Worcester, MA
Description: This is a MassDOT hosted meeting. According to MassDOT, "The purpose of this hearing is to provide the public with the opportunity to become fully acquainted with the proposed Blackstone River Bikeway (Segment 7) including Bridge Rehabilitation W-44-041, McGrath Blvd. over Madison Street project. The Segment 7 of the Blackstone River Bikeway (BRBW) is a 10-foot bikeway between Brosnihan Square and Union Station at Washington Square and is located primarily along city streets. Bicycle accommodations consisting of a bicycle lane have been provided in accordance with applicable design guides." Read more.

Event: Moving Massachusetts Forward Gubernatorial Debate

Description: The election of the next governor of Massachusetts is a huge opportunity to improve cities and communities across the state. Hear from the future governor of Massachusetts and let all the candidates know you care about transportation & smart growth. The forum is sponsored by Transportation for Massachusetts and Massachusetts Smart Growth Alliance, and coordinated by LivableStreets Alliance with Kendall Square Association. Event: Florence, Dinner & Bikes

Location: VFW Hall, 18 Meadow Street, Florence, MA
Description. Please join us for a traveling road show of vegan food and bicycle inspiration. Joshua Ploeg will delight with a vegan and gluten free buffet dinner, Elly Blue will present about Bikenomics and the economic case for bicycling, and Joe Biel will show a program of short films about bicycle activism. The event is followed with a book signing and time for questions, discussion of local issues, and perusing the traveling bookstore. Presented by MassBike Pioneer Valley Chapter, Northampton Cycling Club, The People's Pint, & Speed & Sprocket Cycle Works. Admission cost, including dinner: $10 pre-registration, or $15 at the door. Saturday, June 7

Volunteer Opportunity: Bike Valet at Cambridge RiverFest
Time: 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Location: Central Square, Cambridge, MA
Description: MassBike will be providing Bike Valet parking at Cambridge RiverFest. We will have two separate Bike Valet locations, with an early shift and late shift available at each. Site 1 will be located at Lafayette Plaza at the corner of Columbia Street and Main Street. Site 2 will be located at Barron Plaza at the southeast corner of Mass Ave and Prospect Street. During your shift, you’ll have the chance to take a break and check out the Cambridge River Fest music, vendors, food, and festivities. No previous Bike Valet experience necessary – we will train you. As a special thank you, volunteers will receive a Hub Bicycle saddle bag. Read more and sign up here.
