🚴♀️ Step Back in Time—On Two Wheels!
Images of America: Southbridge by John Moore and Steven Brady, Arcadia Press 2001
Imagine pedaling through Worcester, past the house once owned by Major Taylor—one of the greatest cyclists of all time. Picture the streets where history unfolded, in the city that opened the first public mental health institution in the U.S. in 1833.
Travel south to Southbridge, where in 1897 the Sandersdale Bicycle Club brought neighbors together, sharing stories and rides much like we do today. Or ride through Grafton’s rolling farmland, following the Old Connecticut Path—a route that has carried Native Americans, colonial settlers, and early recreational cyclists across the landscape for centuries.
This year, we’re turning some of our bicycle events into living history tours. Through workshops, tabling events, and community rides, you’ll get your curiosity racing and your heart pumping as you discover the hidden stories of your city and town along the way.
