Action Alert: Increased Safety on Rt 110 Needs Your Support
Your help is needed to make Route 110 safer for vulnerable road users! This 45MPH road, which connects bikeways on the Merrimack River, has been identified as one of the most dangerous stretches of road in the region. An upcoming roadway project aims to remove vulnerable road users from the speeding traffic entirely.
MassDOT's original plan included a shared use path along the roadway, but recently the plan was changed to a less safe alternative. According to the MassDOT project page, "the revised design moving forward will no longer be proposing a shared use path along the south side of the road. Instead, there will be bike lanes on either side of the road, buffered from the vehicle lanes by area painted buffer containing flex posts." This change is unacceptable, a separated shared use path is essential to ensure the safety of vulnerable road users.
Take Action
- Attend the public meeting on Tuesday, June 18th, 6pm at Harmony Hall in Dracut and speak up in support of putting the separated shared use path back into the design
- Email your support of a separated shared use path on project 608816 to [email protected]
