Experiencing safer roads for all @ MassDOT Touch-a-Trucks in May!

🧐Did you know that 50% of heavy-duty trucks cannot see a child directly in front of them on the crosswalk? That this number rises to 90% for a child in the bike lane? Driving such vehicles is a stressful experience. Moving around them, whether by foot or bike, can be a dangerous one for people of any age.

🚚Come experience what drivers can see (and not see) at your local MassDOT Touch-A-Truck this Spring! This exercise aims to increase public awareness of truck blind zones and how to move more safely around these types of vehicles. MassDOT invites families and friends to help everyone know how to safely move in our communities.

These events will take place on May 17^th, 2025, at 6 different locations in MA: 📍Lenox, Northampton, Worcester, Arlington, Taunton and Milton. Spread the word for more roadway safety!

⚠️Volunteers needed!⚠️

We are looking for volunteers to help facilitate this exercise at our Lenox, Northampton, and Taunton locations. 

Here’s a little glimpse of what we’re planning on doing. We’ll be focusing on the truck blind zone exercise starting at 00:37, without the high-vision truck. The facilitation would consist of explaining a bit of the research and getting people in and out of the truck.
