Guest Blog: Brewster MA Wins BFC Bronze!

The League of American Bicyclists awarded Brewster a bronze Bicycle Friendly Community designation for 2025. The award designation is for four years and is renewable by application.

Brewster now joins Ptown, Falmouth, and Nantucket as Bicycle Friendly Communities on Cape Cod, and is one of 13 communities in Massachusetts to be awarded BFC. In 2025 only five communities nationwide were awarded bronze on their first application and Brewster was one of them - it’s very rare for a community to earn BFC on first attempt.

This award reflects the great work the Town of Brewster, members of the Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee and local advocates like the Brewster Conservation Trust, Friends of the Cape Cod Rail Trail and the Rail Trail Bike and Kayak Shop have done to make Brewster a Bicycle Friendly Community.

Brewster’s Bicycle Friendly Community scorecard from the League can be found here.

Members of the Brewster Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee participated in a League of American Bicyclists Smart Cycling Class in June 2025 at the Eddy School in Brewster, MA. League Cycling Instructor Galen Mook led the class. This was just one of the cycling activities that the Brewster Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee hosted in 2025 as part of its application for the Bicycle Friendly Community Award.
