This Saturday, July 20, Biking Brookline will lead a 29-mile ride on a loop to East Boston and Deer Island.
The route, which incorporates two Boston Harbor ferry crossings, has three segments:
Knyvet Square in North Brookline to East Boston ferry dock at Long Wharf near the Aquarium (4 miles);
Lewis Mall ferry dock in East Boston to Deer Island via East Boston Greenway, Constitution Beach, and local streets in Winthrop, and then back to Lewis Mall ferry dock (19 miles);
When and Where:
We will meet-up at the center of Knyvet Square between Amory and St. Paul Streets at 8:45 AM and head out at 9:00 AM sharp. Please note that this is earlier than our usual meet-up time.
Description of the Ride:
The ride will be at a leisurely, relaxed pace and will be mainly on bike paths and local streets, but there will be a few stretches on main roads. We expect the ride to take 6 - 7 hours, including ferry crossings, short breaks, and a break for a picnic lunch. Please bring your own lunch!
The route offers outstanding views of the Boston harbor and skyline from many different vantage points. The MBTA East Boston ferry is free.
