For Pete's Sake 5th Annual Memorial Ride 2025
Last Sunday, September 28th, friends & family of Peter A. Del Sette, Jr. celebrated his life and love of biking with the 5th annual For Pete's Sake Memorial Ride in Beverly, MA. What began as a small event to remember and honor Pete’s life, tragically cut short in 2020 as the result of a crash during a charity ride, has grown into a community event for riders across New England. The fundraiser supports MassBike’s work advocating for bicycle and street safety throughout the state.
This year’s event saw beautiful weather as riders gathered in Odell Park. With almost 50 riders registered, about half of whom rode the long 50-mile route, 2025 was the biggest For Pete’s Sake ride yet. As Pete’s friend and cycling partner Beth Patrikas observed, “It's been incredible to watch the ride grow from 12 to 50 riders over the past 5 years - a true grassroots effort powered by friends and family. Peter, an avid cyclist, friend and riding partner, would be proud to see what this has become for our community.”
MassBike and the For Pete's Sake Memorial Ride want to thank corporate sponsor Eastern Bank, after-party host Gentile Brewing, and food donations from Shayna B's By The Sea and Paula and Josh Miller for the cupcakes donation. We also want to thank and shout out Heidi Mac Creations for the 5th annual For Pete's Sake Memorial Ride shirts, tumblers, and other commemorative items. We also would like to thank all of the riders who contributed to the For Pete’s Sake Fundraiser on PledgeReg. Led by Beth Patrikas, the riders raised over $3,000 for this ride. All proceeds will be used to support MassBike’s advocacy efforts towards creating safer roads for everyone across Massachusetts. This is an annual event so if you missed it this year, please consider joining us next year.
