Mass Central Rail Trail Annual Meeting 3/20/26

MassBike staff Alexis and Alex & board member Liz Johnson attended the Mass Central Rail Trail Annual Meeting on Friday, March 20th, held at the beautiful Publick House Historic Inn in Sturbridge, MA. Commissioner Nicolle LaChapelle delivered the keynote address.

The day included workshops and presentations from trail advocates and other stakeholders, with engaging discussions about both the challenges and successes in building out the trail. Alexis highlighted tools MassBike now offers, including the Trail Etiquette Toolkit, while Alex shared lessons learned from the E-Bike Program, aimed at encouraging people of all backgrounds to ride more and enjoy trails as safe, welcoming spaces for all ages and abilities.

There were eight working groups throughout the day. MassBike participated in the Building Community Support group, where they emphasized the importance of creating clear and consistent messaging across all communities, regardless of the current status of their trails.
