MassBike to Present at Moving Together and MassTrails Conferences this October

MassBike is thrilled to participate in two upcoming conferences, bringing a strong bicycling advocacy perspective to key discussions on transportation and trail development. If you’re attending the Moving Together or MassTrails conferences this October, make sure to join our sessions, where we’ll share valuable insights and practical tools for improving biking infrastructure and advancing transportation projects across the state.

Moving Together Conference – Wednesday, October 23rd in Boston

The Moving Together Conference gathers transportation leaders, public health experts, safety advocates, and policymakers to tackle issues related to biking, walking, transit, and urban mobility. MassBike’s session will focus on empowering communities to create safer streets through bike and walk audits.

SITE VISIT: Learning How to Conduct Bike and Walk Audits
Time: 1:45 pm - 3:00 pm
Location: Meet in the Sheraton Boston Hotel Lobby directly after the lunchtime awards

In this interactive mobile workshop, Galen Mook (MassBike) and Brendan Kearney (WalkMassachusetts) will guide participants in practicing bike and walk audits, using tools like the AARP Bike Audit Tool Kit and WalkMassachusetts’ Walk Audit Academy series. These audits help local advocates assess their streets and sidewalks, identify safety issues, and push for improvements. This session will give you hands-on experience in evaluating the infrastructure just a few blocks from the conference.

Note: Participation is limited to the first 25 people who sign up at the registration table.

MassTrails Conference – Saturday, October 26th in Worcester

Hosted by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR), the MassTrails Conference is a gathering of trail advocates, planners, and volunteers to discuss the development and improvement of Massachusetts’ trail systems. MassBike’s session will focus on sharing expertise from successful rail trail projects around the state.
