The League of American Bicyclists recently named Massachusetts the #2 Bike-Friendly State in America! Thanks to amazing bike advocates like you and MassBike’s advocacy, Massachusetts is a leader in bike-friendly initiatives. 

Your support has been instrumental to our success! We wanted to share some of our 2024 impacts across the commonwealth.

Regional Impacts

• Lights Brigade: We provided bike lights to the local advocates who hosted more than 30 local events, equipping cyclists with essential visibility gear for safer night riding.
• Safe Routes to School Events: In collaboration with local schools, we hosted 90 events promoting safe cycling habits for students, creating the next generation of better bicycling advocates.

Statewide Achievements

• Legislative Success: Our advocacy efforts ensured two elements of our work got signed into law, opening access to utility corridors for recreational purposes and forming a commission to study the regulations and incentives for e-bikes.
• World Day of Remembrance: We honored cyclists lost on our roads and raised awareness for safer infrastructure, by supporting community events and co-hosting a panel discussion with the GBH Forum Network.
• Vulnerable Road User Education for New Drivers: In partnership with LivableStreets Alliance, we secured funding to update the new driver curriculum with the RMV to teach empathy and respect when driving near vulnerable road users.
