On Monday, January 23rd, at 6:30pm in Salem, we invite you to be a part of the new North Shore chapter of MassBike!

Why are we forming a North Shore chapter?

For 40 years the Massachusetts Bicycle Coalition has advocated for change on our roadways. Over the last few years, on many fronts, we've succeeded. MassDOT has ingrained Complete Streets design principals into its planning and design standards and is slowly pulling the cities and towns into its orbit with the Complete Streets funding program. But to take better bicycle infrastructure from plan to reality, it takes constant, steady pressure from citizens who know how to speak up in favor of it in productive ways.

It means we are going to bring MassBike to you - through establishing chapters around the state which can educate local leaders, advocate for change at the local level, and connect bike advocates with each other. If you are a MassBike member, you are already, by default, a member of the chapter for the area in which you live, and you'll start to hear more regular, locally-relevant news about bikes. By coming to our chapter meetings, you'll have a chance to make the connection between your city or town and the statewide perspective and technical expertise of MassBike's network.

Event Agenda

  • What's going on with bicycling on the north shore? Find out, and get educated with the knowledge and connections you need to make a difference!
  • Call for Leaders - We need volunteers to fill roles such as....Chapter President, Chapter Communications Coordinator, Business Liaison, and Advocacy Coordinator.
  • Organizing for better bicycling advocacy on the North Shore - what does it look like, and what are the next steps?
  • Get to know other people in the region who are working to make our beautiful region even better for bicycling.

Join us for this and more at Salem Cycles on January 23rd! Salem Cycles, at 72 Washington St in Salem, is a short walk from train station, bike racks nearby, and click here for parking info.
