Ride of Silence
Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at 06:45 PM
The mission of the worldwide Ride of Silence is to honor bicyclists killed by motorists, promote sharing the road, and provide awareness of bicycling safety. A Ride of Silence in Dartmouth on Wednesday, May 21, will honor a young man killed 15 years ago while riding his bicycle in Boston.
Eric Hunt, 22, was a Dean's List student in his final year of studies at Wentworth Institute of Technology, attending on a merit scholarship. According to his father, Attorney Thomas R. Hunt, Eric attended Bishop Stang High School, was a member of the soccer team, served as a counselor at Camp Massasoit, and worked with underprivileged kids in Boston while attending school there.

Dartmouth High School has arranged free parking next to the tennis courts.
6:45 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. - Welcome, Safety, and Ride Details
as follows:
as follows:
1. Complete silence.
2. Single file.
3. No faster than ten (10) miles per/hr.
4. Helmets are required.
5. No donations requested or even accepted.
The route is south (LEFT) from the front parking lot of the high school on 555 Bakerville Road, to where Bakerville ends, take a RIGHT on Rock O'Dundee Road, and follow to Davoll's General Store, then a RIGHT onto Russell Mills Road back to the high school.
There are two (2) stop signs which will, of course, be obeyed.
There is only one very short but somewhat steep hill at Davoll's.
Davoll's is at approximately mile 5; after Davoll's, the ride is mostly downhill.
The ride is as flat as possible in the beautiful Dartmouth countryside.
Because of the low speed and the flatness of the ride, cyclists of all abilities can participate.
The ride is 8.1 miles long, and everyone should be back at the high school by 7:40 p.m.
After the ride, the organizer will invite anyone who wishes to make
a short statement to honor those lost while riding their bike or walking as pedestrians. For more information, please visit https://www.rideofsilence.org/locations-domestic.php?s=MA#MA.
