Worcester News: Meet MassBike at REC Farmers Markets and Take Our 2023 Worcester Bicycle Survey
As part of our engagement in Worcester, MassBike is working with the Central Massachusetts Regional Planning Commission (CMRPC), WalkBike Worcester, Worcester Department of Transportation, and other community partners on a Worcester Bicycle Survey to better understand the barriers to bicycling in the city. This survey builds off the data we’ve been collecting from our Worcester E-Bike Program participants, who have been sharing not only their riding stats but also their challenges and successes with using e-bikes in Worcester. We’ll be sharing our findings with the City of Worcester and using them to support our collective advocacy efforts within the region.
If you live or bike in Worcester, MassBike invites you to take part in our 2023 Worcester Bicycle Survey! The more feedback we can collect about the current challenges of bicycling in the Worcester area, the better we can advocate to make it safer and more accessible to riders of all ages and abilities.
Take the 2023 Worcester Bicycle Survey
As part of our outreach efforts, MassBike’s Worcester E-Bike Program Manager, Alex, will be attending REC Farmers Markets throughout the season. So far, she’s tabled at two REC Farmers Markets and had great conversations about the bicycle culture in Worcester. At the market, we’ve been joined by CMRPC, Walk/Bike Worcester, and several of our e-bike program participants.
MassBike will be at REC Farmers Markets throughout the season, along with Worcester Earn-A-Bike who will be providing their signature bike tune-ups. We encourage all Worcester area bicyclists or those interested in bicycling to stop by a market to say hi. We’ll be routinely joined by CMRPC, WalkBike Worcester, and other community partners. This schedule is tentative, but weather permitting MassBike and Worcester Earn-A-Bike will be at the following market days:
MassBike & Worcester Earn-A-Bike - REC Farmers Markets Schedule
- Saturday, July 22nd - University Park
- *Canceled due to weather* Friday, August 18th - Beaver Brook Park
- Saturday, August 19th - University Park
- Friday, September 8th - Beaver Brook Park
- Saturday, September 23rd - University Park
- *MassBike will no longer attend* Friday, October 13th - Beaver Brook Park
- Saturday, October 21st - University Park
For those interested in our Worcester E-Bike Program, stopping by a market event is a great way for community members to connect with our e-bike participants and learn more about the program. We’re working to have at least one e-bike participant at each event, and they're eager to share their experiences using e-bikes for transportation in Worcester.
