Worcester Bike Month Celebration Recap
On Saturday, May 18th, the MassBike team hosted the Worcester Bike Month Celebration where we celebrated the accomplishments of our initial Worcester E-Bike Program participants. We were thrilled to be able to take the time to gather in community and reflect on the accomplishments of our first phase of the e-bike program.
Our e-bikers have provided MassBike and the City of Worcester with critical information about the comfort level of biking within the city, which will be used as Worcester implements safer roadway infrastructure.
Each of the phase one Worcester E-Bike Program participants received a certificate of completion, as they have now finished their reporting requirements.
After honoring our e-bike program participants, a hearty group of twelve went on a very wet ride down the new Mill Street protected bike lanes. The group included MassBike staffers, City Councillor Etel Haxhiaj, Senior Traffic Engineer Scott Galbraith, WalkBike Worcester Lead Karin Valentine Goins, e-bike program participants, and community riders.
On Sunday, May 19th, we took a much drier spin on Mill Street. City Councillor Etel Haxhiaj, Department of Transportation and Mobility Commissioner Steve Rolle, Senior Traffic Engineer Scott Galbraith, WalkBike Worcester Lead Karin Valentine Goins, several e-bike program participants, and community riders joined us. We especially commend e-bike program participant, Obdulio Lopez, who pulled a trailer full of drinks with his e-bike. They were greatly welcome after the ride!
