Event: Newton, BikeNewton Weekly Ride
Time: 5:45 PM
Location: Newton Main Library, 330 Homer Street, Newton Centre, MA
Description: Mondays at 6pm BikeNewton leads a group Bike Ride starting and ending at the Newton Main Library at 330 Homer Street Newton Center. Arrive at 5:45. These are family-friendly "No Rider Left Behind" rides; Anyone may ride as long as their bikes are in good working order, and they are confident they can handle a leisurely 7 to 10 mile ride. Children must be with an adult, all riders must wear helmets, and adhere to safety rules of the road. Read More.

Public Meeting: Hadley, Roadway & Intersection Improvements at Route 9 & Route 47
Time: 6:00 PM
Location: Hadley Senior Center at Hooker School, 46 Middle Street, Hadley, MA
Description: This is a MassDOT hosted meeting. According to MassDOT, "The proposed project consists of minor roadway widening to provide four travel lanes and include bicycle accommodations consisting of usable 5-foot shoulders on either side of the road, in accordance with applicable design guides. Additional construction improvements include: ADA/AAB compliant sidewalks and wheelchair ramps; new granite curbs; installation of a new water line; installation of new traffic signal equipment including accessible pedestrian signal push buttons; roadway resurfacing; new signs; and new pavement markings." MassBike Volunteer Night
Time: 5:30 PM
Location: MassBike Office, 171 Milk Street Suite 33, Boston, MA
Description: Do you enjoy hanging out with fellow cyclists, conducting sparkling conversation, and eating pizza with a refreshing Harpoon beer or soda? Then you won’t want to miss Volunteer Night on the second Tuesday of every month, from 5:30 - 8pm. It’s a chance to have some fun and help MassBike with a few easy administrative tasks. The more help we get from volunteers, the more time MassBike staff can spend making bicycling better. Just let us know you’re coming so we know how much pizza to order! The closest T Stations are Aquarium (Blue Line) and State Street (Blue & Orange Lines).

Public Meeting: Cambridge City Council Transportation Committee Meeting on Grand Junction Path
Time: 3:00 PM
Location: Cambridge City Hall, Sullivan Chamber, 795 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge, MA
Description: Cambridge City Councillor Dennis Carlone has scheduled a meeting of the city council's Transportation and Public Utilities Committee on Wednesday, June 11, to explore the way forward for a shared-use, rail-with-trail path along the city's Grand Junction corridor. This meeting will feature participation from the city's Community Development Department, the Friends of the Grand Junction Path, and other community stakeholders and biking advocates. There will also be some discussion about the concept of creating an east-west, shared-use path to connect Danehy Park to the future Grand Junction path. Members of the public are encouraged to RSVP for this meeting. Everyone is also welcome to offer testimony during public comment.

Public Meeting: Cambridge Bicycle Committee
Time: 5:30 PM
Location: Community Development Dept., 344 Broadway, 4th Floor, Cambridge, MA
Description: This is a monthly recurring meeting open to attendance by the public. The Cambridge Bicycle Committee, established by City Council in 1991, works to improve conditions for bicyclists in the City of Cambridge and promote bicycling as a means of transportation. The committee is made up of community members who take an active interest in bicycling issues in Cambridge, as well as City staff from the Community Development Department, the Department of Traffic, Parking, and Transportation, the Police Department, and the Department of Public Works.

Thursday, June 12

Public Meeting: Cambridge, Bicycle Network Open House
Time: 5:00 - 8:00 PM
Location: Cambridge Main Library, Community Room, 449 Broadway, Cambridge, MA
Description. This City of Cambridge hosts an open house for its Bicycle Network Plan. According to the city, "Here is your chance to say what you would like the future to look like. What would make this the most bicycle friendly city on the planet? What are the ways, small or large, short-term or long-term, that would make a difference for you? Come also for the camaraderie and your chance to win prizes! (Plus, there’s free snacks – what more could you want?) The Cambridge Bicycle Network Plan is underway and we are looking for input from everyone who bikes or would like to bike in the city – whether they are eight years old or 80 years old. Sunday, June 15

Event: Newton, Tour de Newton
Time: 9:00 AM
Location: Multiple locations, Newton, MA
Description: The annual Tour de Newton is a great event for kids, adults, and casual bicyclists. The ride starts simultaneously in all 13 villages. You’ll be riding with your village neighbors and have a trained leader/sweep to guide you. The 20 mile, 13 village fun ride stops at each of Newton’s villages, where you’ll be welcomed with refreshments, a village badge, and an overview of the village by the locals. Ride the whole 20 mile loop, or just a few villages, whichever you like. It’s a great fun way to see and learn about the whole city. Tour de Newton has a modest fee this year to cover expenses (but the t-shirts and buttons are free for participants!) Adults can register for $10, children for $5, or families (up to 7 people) for $25. More info here. Register here.
