MassBike was awarded grant funding through the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center’s (MassCEC) new Accelerating Clean Transportation for All (ACT4All) Program to conduct a 2-year program to distribute approximately 100 electric bicycles and track their usage amongst select populations in the City of Worcester. We're leading a team including the Worcester Chamber of Commerce, community-based organizations, and the Central Massachusetts Regional Planning Commission (CMRPC) to deploy e-bikes to low-income residents throughout Worcester.

All e-bikes have now been distributed and we are moving forward with ongoing data collection and community engagement efforts in Worcester. As the program continues, this page will be updated with current project information.

Program Update: July 13, 2023

Between August 2022 and June 2023, we deployed all available e-bikes. The program has now moved into ongoing data collection and community engagement activities.

All e-bike applicants were sent an update with this information by our E-Bike Program Manager, Alex Salcedo. The program anticipates there will be some attrition among the participants for a variety of reasons, if e-bikes get returned by participants, we will re-distribute them to pre-approved applicants who have indicated their interest in staying on our waitlist. If you have questions, please reach out to Alex at [email protected].

As part of our ongoing Worcester engagement efforts, we currently asking everyone who lives/works in Worcester for their feedback/comments on bicycling in the city. The goal of the survey is to learn more about the bicycle culture in Worcester to share with city officials. Please fill out this five-minute survey and stay connected! Complete the survey in full (don't forget to provide your contact info!) for a chance to win a $50 gift card.

If you're interested in getting a discounted or free regular, non-e-bike, please contact Worcester Earn-A-Bike for ways in which you can access one in working condition or build one yourself through their program.

MassBike works tirelessly to make the Massachusetts E-Bike Rebate Program a reality. To stay up to speed on our continued legislative advocacy concerning e-bikes and other bicycling-related developments across the state, make sure you’re on our email list!
