State House Day of Action 2026
MassBike and Transportation for Massachusetts are hosting a State House Day of Action scheduled for Tuesday February 3rd, 2026.
This event will be a briefing on An Act relative to traffic regulation using road safety cameras, S.2344 and H.3754. This legislation will provide accountability for unsafe driving without requiring resources from police officers, reducing the danger inherent in traffic stops. We are hopeful this legislation will move forward this session with your help!
This bill:
- Allows municipalities to set up cameras specific for enforcing speeding, red light running, and “blocking the box”
- Not government overreach: Only captures license plate images, not drivers’ or passengers’, similar to automatic tolling already in place
- Not a win for big tech: Data is protected and prohibitions are set against selling data or using it for other purposes
- Not a money grab: Fines start at $25 and revenue goes into the MA Transportation Trust Fund, not the municipality itself or the collection companies
✨ If you haven’t already, please watch our 2026 Day of Action Webinar. You will gain: an overview of the bill we are advocating for, tips on how to have a successful meeting and answers to common questions about our Day of Action agenda.
✨ Please be sure to check in when you arrive at room 428 with MassBike staff. You will receive your meeting folder and will be informed of any other advocates who may be looking to join your meeting. If there is no one else signed up to join your meeting and you would like a buddy, one of our team members will accompany you. We are a statewide organization so every district is our district!
✨ We will be in room 428 from 9:45am until 12:00pm tomorrow and then we will need to move our things next door to room 428A for the remainder of the day. Our team members will be reminding everyone tomorrow as well. Our team members will be in the room until the end of the day, so you may leave your things if you choose.
✨ If you just signed up and were unable to get a meeting scheduled, do not worry! We still encourage you to stop by your legislator’s office and speak with them or their staff. Having a productive conversation with their office staff is highly effective for relationship building.
Getting to the State House: Please follow directions described on the State House website for arriving by car, walking or public transportation.
If you are bravely biking, there are bike racks located along the Hooker entrance and further down Beacon Street. The nearest Bluebike station is located in the Common next to the Park Street station entrance.
✨If you cannot make the briefing at 10am, feel free to join with this virtual meeting link:
